HUSBAND ACCEPTANCE CEREMONY
Husband Acceptance Ceremony
An engagement ceremony when the proposing man has to offer a ham, an engagement letter and present his family and host a Nove Sapori breakfast or afternoon tea, hoping to be accepted into the wife's family.
The wive's family reads the engagement letter, which is considered a moral contract to be upheld for the duration of the marriage and in case of divorce, can be accepted or rejected by her family.
They judge his effort, etiquette, what he promises in the letter, his ham gift, the ham gifts flower language and what it says about his intention with the bride and his family’s behavior.
As women carry the bloodline and men affect the fortune of a family disproportionately, the groom is judged by his effect on the family tree, the family name and the family fortune.
